It's been long overdue, but today we finally got around to publishing our expert review on the FK Irons Spectra Direkt2 Tattoo Machine.
Let’s see if it lives up to the hype.
An important factor when deciding which tattoo machine was the best, was the availability of parts. From top to bottom, all of the needles and cartridges we purchased had to be changed. Since these parts are not available in most shops, they had to be purchased here at Inked. While that makes the machine more costly, the quality of the machine itself is definitely a lot better. It is evident in the extra parts, such as the Spectra Direkt cartidge grip.
The body of the machine itself is made from solid cast aluminum and it is very sturdy. The multiVise system also allows for a lot of customization when it comes to the stroke caps. FK’s Spectra Direkt 2 uses a standard hex drive motor, which is now extremely common on devices traveling at about 7,000 RPM.
What really makes the FK Irons a great machine however, is the perfect balance of smoothness, power, and style. The machine’s body is clearly shaped to prevent vibration, which definitely adds to its smoothness. The Spectra Direkt 2 is also featured the same hex drive system, which is designed to be smooth and quiet.
The main gripe with this machine, is the fact that it is not as quiet as some. While the Spectra Direkt 2 is sure to add smooth, accurate strokes, it may be on the expensive side when it comes to buying needles. But, the availability of spare needles and cartridges were definitely a deciding factor in choosing this machine.
